“Luck is where preparation meets opportunity”.  (Seneca)

We were in Indonesia helping young high potentials increase the luck in their career – by helping them to prepare for an assessment,  which will take them to the next level.

It is not the most profound thing to say, but yes, it does seem that we can increase our good fortunes by putting in the effort.

When we prepare, we tune our radar into what it is necessary to do.  Sow the seeds and create the conditions.  We partner up with the universe to do our part so it is better placed to help us out.  And by doing so, we are able to see more clearly what lies before us.  We realise that there are more possibilities than what first appears.

How does this relate to you?

Are you investing in learning and development in this economic climate?

What have you done to upskill or increase your network recently?

Do you just talk about your big idea? Or have you got a plan so robust and ready, if you were to meet a big wig investor in the elevator, you could convince them of it?

Rather than seeking love, are you as Rumi suggested, seeking and finding all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it, in preparation for spotting Mr/Ms Right? (ok he didn’t say the last bit)

Have you learnt Spanish so that you can actually have a more fulfilling life in Spain?

Elizabeth Gilbert wrote, “There’s a wonderful old Italian joke about a poor man who goes to church every day and prays before the statue of a great saint, begging. “Dear saint-please, please, please…give me the grace to win the lottery.” This lament goes on for months. Finally the exasperated statue comes to life. Looks down at the begging man. And says in weary disgust, “My son-please, please, please…buy a ticket.”

Enjoy increasing the odds of making what you want happen, happen…or making happen something even better than what you imagined.
